Two injured after accident during law enforcement pursuit

Screen Shot 2014-05-20 at 9.53.00 AMHUTCHINSON- Two people were injured in an accident during a law enforcement pursuit just before 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday in Reno County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2002 Ford F 150 driven by Curtis Cleveland, 56, Hutchinson, was being pursued by the Reno County Sheriff when it struck the back of 2000 Chevy S-10 driven by John E. Trussell, 26, Hutchinson.

The Chevy hit a utility pole and came to rest just south of the intersection of Plum and Bigger.

The Ford continued south and came to rest in the yard of a residence. Officers chased Cleveland on foot and eventually made an arrest. He was suspected of drunk driving.

Trussell was transported to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. A 10-year old passenger in the Chevy was also transported to the hospital by private vehicle.

No other injuries were reported.

The KHP reported all were properly restrained at the time of the accident. Officers chased
