Just a typical summer day in Hays, America?
Mother Nature continues to bring much-needed rainfall to the area, with as much as 3.27 inches reported so far from an overnight front that has lasted into Thursday morning. In June, there has been more than 7 inches of rain in Hays — after the first five months offered only 3 inches combined.
The report of 3-plus inches came from central Trego County. While overnight reports showed just trace amount in Hays gauges at daybreak, the front has dropped a total of 0.35 inches in town since it started early this morning.
While the slow-moving showers are expected to give way to clearer skies by late morning, there is a potential for thunderstorms returning Thursday afternoon and evening.

Other reports from across northwest Kansas showed 1.77 inches in northeast Gove County, a half-inch in central Graham County, and just at an inch in Rooks and Ness counties.
