Lamoureaux is a 2014 Master of Fine Arts graduate in inter-media. The exhibit will run through July 17 at the Moss-Thorns Gallery of Art located on the first floor of Rarick Hall on the FHSU campus.

“Memories of my experience in nature fuel the investigation for my thesis exhibition, Pulse of the Prairie,” said Lamoureaux’s artist’s statement. “It was while bike riding on the prairie trail that I saw, beneath my feet, huge paw prints. Questions about the prairie began to form. Those paw prints frozen in the stiff mud captured the pulse of what moved and breathe in my environment and imagination.”

Lamoureaux is a high school art teacher for Hoisington USD 431. She also has an M.F.A. in printmaking from FHSU and a Bachelor of Arts in art education from Marymount College, Salina.

Her artist’s statement describes the exhibit: “Constructed sculptures integrate with found objects of wheels, allowing them to move in a different mode, questioning the kind of movement a creature may take. I pursue creating art about birds, horses and fox … because they seem to live on a curious level beyond understanding. They have personality and lessons to be shared.”

Moss-Thorns Gallery, behind the Department of Art office, is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
