Father Mitch Pacwa S.J., popular and well-educated Catholic priest, will speak in Hays on Sept. 6 at an afternoon workshop and be the featured speaker at Divine Mercy Radio’s annual appreciation banquet.
“We are excited that we were able to book Father Pacwa,” Donetta Robben, executive director of Divine Mercy Radio, said in a news release. “He generally comes equipped with a cowboy hat and cowboy boots, and has a sense of humor that Kansans will love. Plus, he’s extremely knowledgeable about a variety of topics and fluent in 12 languages.”
Father Pacwa established “Ignatius Productions,” a Catholic media production apostolate, under the Society of Jesus, whose mission is to teach people the Scriptures, educate Catholics about their faith, and promote unity and understanding within the mystical body of Christ.
Father Pacwa holds numerous degrees including a doctorate degree in Old Testament. He has taught at the high school, university and seminary levels as well as has lectured at hundreds of conferences and churches around the world. He is best known for his appearances on the Eternal World Television Network (EWTN), where he currently hosts two programs: “Threshold of Hope” and “EWTN Live.” Father Pacwa also serves as the weekly host of EWTN Radio, “Open Line,” which airs at 2 p.m. Wednesdays and can be heard in the Hays area on 88.1 FM or via streaming at KVDM.org or through the Divine Mercy Radio iPhone app.
Father Pacwa will speak on two topics during the afternoon workshop to be held at 1 p.m. in the Little Theatre of Holy Family Elementary, 1800 Milner. The first talk is titled: “ ‘The gates of hell shall not prevail:’ The failure of the enemies of Christ to stop the Church,” and the second talk is based on a C.K. Chesterton’s quote, “ ‘I do not want a Church that is right when the culture is right, but a church that is right when the culture is wrong,’ Proclaiming the truth about being human, Catholic and heaven bound.”
Father Pacwa also will be the featured speaker at Divine Mercy Radio’s annual banquet to be held at the Rose Garden Banquet Hall, 2350 E. Eighth St. His topic is titled, “Proclaim the gospel in season and out of season: How to evangelize the truth about Jesus Christ, salvation and eternal life.”
Other featured guests at the banquet will be the Most Rev. Edward J. Weisenburger, Bishop of Salina, as well as Dave Vacheresse, Radio Manger from the Eternal World Television Network.
