Shirley Marie Lindsay, 76, Hays, left this life Thursday, June 26, 2014, at the home of her daughter in Andover, Kansas.
Born November 26, 1937, in Hays, she was the daughter of Peter and Mary (Brungardt) Dinkel.
A member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and VFW Auxiliary, Hays, she was a self-employed insurance agent, an Avon dealer, and especially enjoyed being a Senior Companion the last nine years.
Shirley and Richard Lee Lindsay were married in Hays, April 28, 1956. To this union were born Christine A., Steven Lee, and Richard Lee Jr. Steven was killed in a vehicle accident as a teenager in 1972.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Chris and Ed Bennett, now of Wichita, Rick and Lori Lindsay, Norton, grandchildren, Jedidiah and Jennifer Lindsay, Zachary Lindsay, both of Norton, and Amanda and Jacob Swim, Wichita, and four great grandchildren.
Besides her parents, husband and son, Steve, Shirley was preceded in death by her six siblings, Joe, Bob and Melvin Dinkel, Leona Asper, Ruby Bieker, and Hubertine Herl.
She will be remembered by all for her always present sense of humor.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays. Inurnment will be at 4:00 pm on Tuesday at the Norton City Cemetery. Friends may call from 10:00 am until the service time at the church. Memorials are suggested to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in care of Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1906 Pine St.
