
The Eagles Senior American Legion wins their first two games of the Wild West Fest tournament Friday. The Eagles defeat Rock Creek 5-4 in eight innings then knocked off Monument, Colorado 8-0 in five innings to move to 19-6 on the season.
Against Rock Creek, they rallied with two runs in the bottom of the seventh on a Layne Downing two-out two-run single. Cole Schumacher then knocked in the game winning run with a two-out single in the eighth. Schumacher went 3-for-4 and Connor Rule also drove in two runs. Downing got the final out in the eighth for the win.
The Eagles score two in the third then six in the fourth against Monument. Layne Downing threw a three-hit shutout, striking out five and walking two. Cole Schumacher drove in three and Zack Legleiter had two RBIs.
