Kansas woman dies in 3 vehicle Tuesday accident UPDATE

4 p.m. Update  A Kansas woman critically injured in Tuesday morning’s Reno County accident has died from her injuries. Ollie Richey, 85, Haven, was airlifted to St. Francis Regional Medical Center where she died. The accident remains under investigation.

CASTLETON- Three people were injured in a 3-vehicle accident just after 8 a.m. on Tuesday in Reno County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2004 Chevy Malibu driven by James F. Richey, 92 Haven, was westbound on Arlington Road eight miles south of South Hutchinson.

The vehicle failed to yield at the stop sign at the intersection of Kansas 14 and Arlington Road, and pulled in front of 2001 Ford Explorer driven by Brooksie L. Conroy, 30, McPherson.

The vehicles collided and the Explorer then struck a 2011 Ford F 350 driven by Neil J. Unruh, 63, Haviland.

The F350 was stopped at the stop sign on eastbound Arlington Road.

Richey was transported to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. A passenger in the Chevy Ollie R. Richey, 85, Haven, was transported via Lifeteam helicopter to St. Francis Medical Center in Wichita where she died late Tuesday morning.

Conroy suffered an ankle injury, but was not transported. Unruh was not injured.

The KHP reported all were properly restrained at the time of the accident.
