This is the 34th year for the Russell County Free Fair in Russell. It’s the first Russell County Fair for the new Extension 4-H Youth Agent, Nicolette Unruh, who serves Russell and Ellsworth counties as part of the Midway K-State Research and Extension District.
Unruh grew up in Pawnee County, and was a member of Barton County 4-H for 12 years. She knows what to expect in her “brand-new” role:
“I’m here as an agent to help facilitate the fair, make sure the judges are in place, and help get these 4-H’rs an accumulation of their year so they can learn a little bit more than they were already were with their projects,” said Unruh.
“The fair helps them finalize that all.”
