Pittsburg Post 64 scored five runs in the third and four more in the fourth inning to beat the Hays Eagles 11-5 Saturday forcing a second championship game at the AAA state American Legion tournament.
Eagles starter Marcus Altman allowed eight runs on just four hits in three plus innings as Pittsburg jumped out to a 9-0 lead after four. Altman got the loss.
Hays got a run in the fifth and two runs in both the sixth and seventh as they fall to 3-1 in the tournament.
Connor Rule finished 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored and Jared Haynes tripled and drove in two runs in the loss.
Hays falls to 33-9 on the season and they will play Pittsburg Post 64 in the second championship game at 10 a.m. Sunday.
