WICHITA- A Kansas man was hit and killed by a truck while helping pick up drywall that had fallen out of another vehicle just before 3 p.m. on Monday in Sedgwick County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported Larry W. Dobbs, 61, Eldorado, had stopped his vehicle and was on foot in the median of the 7400 Block of eastbound Kansas 96 in Wichita. Dobbs was picking up debris lost by a 2011 Ford F350.

A 2006 Mack truck driven by Kenneth E. Knebler, 66, Wichita, swerved into the median to avoid rear-ending the other two vehicles and hit Dobbs.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and transported to the Sedgwick County Coroner’s office.
No other injuries were reported.
