Despite a come mixed reviews, Hays USD 489’s new process for online enrollment is running smoothly after a few minor tweaks.

At Monday’s school board meeting, technology director Brian Drennon said 1,283 students have used online enrollment since last week’s startup.

“We opened it up actually Thursday night at midnight, and there were 13 actually enrolled at midnight,” he said.

Drennon said the process has received some mixed reviews.

“It is a different process this year than before. We moved to single sign-on with PowerSchool. … I think in the end we need to do a better job of educating the public, the parents, and I think we will be moving forward every year,” Drennon said.
