Garden City- A teenage driver was injured in an accident just after 3 p.m. on Wednesday in Finney County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported 1997 Plymouth passenger car driven by Adrienne Martinez, 18, Garden City and a 2007 Peterbilt semi power unit driven by Stanley L. Kessler, 55, Holcomb were both southbound on U.S. 83 ten miles north of Garden City.

Both vehicles were following a vehicle pulling a horse trailer.

The semi attempted to pass the Plymouth and the vehicle pulling the horse trailer. The Plymouth also attempted to pass the vehicle pulling the horse trailer, collided with the semi and ended up in the west ditch facing eastbound.

The semi came to rest on the east shoulder facing southbound.

Martinez was transported to St. Catherine’s Hospital. Kessler was not injured.

The KHP reported Martinez was not wearing a seat belt.
