NEWTON, Kan. (AP) — Kansas police say a Newton man has been critically injured in an officer-involved shooting.
Newton Police Lt. Craig Dunlavy says the shooting occurred Thursday evening when an officer responded to a domestic violence report at a mobile home park. Dunlavy says the officer was confronted by a man with a weapon. He didn’t say what type.
He says the officer was inside the home when gunfire occurred but didn’t say if the officer shot the man. The man was taken to a hospital. His condition wasn’t available late Thursday.
No officers were injured. Dunlavy didn’t say how many shots were fired. He didn’t say who the man was, his age or if he lived at the home.
The investigation was turned over to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.
