Roadwork to begin in Rooks and Osborne counties

KDOT

Two resurfacing projects are scheduled to begin Sept. 2, weather permitting.

The first project is an ultrathin bonded asphalt surfacing on U.S. 24 from the Graham County line to Stockton in Rooks County.

The second project consists of a 3-inch mill and 4.5-inch overlay on U.S. 24 from Stockton to near Alton in Osborne County.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane and controlled by flaggers and a pilot car during daylight hours. Minor delays should be expected during construction, not exceeding 15 minutes.

The Kansas Department of Transportation urges all motorists to be alert, obey the warning signs, and “Give ‘Em a Brake!” when approaching and driving through the construction zone.
KDOT awarded the construction contracts – totaling $7.4 million – to APAC Kansas.

The projects should be completed by mid-October, weather permitting.
