Wichita, KS – Today Representative Tim Huelskamp (KS-01) participated in a special panel discussion during the Kansas Independent Oil and Gas Association annual convention. Congressman Huelskamp discussed a number of issues including the Lesser Prairie Chicken, the future of energy policy in the United States, and limiting the role of government over-regulation in energy production. Congressman Huelskamp released the following statement:
“It was an honor to address KIOGA members today as our nation finds itself at a crucial turning point. As the Obama Administration attempts to enlarge government and encroach upon the American entrepreneurial spirit, it is important that those of us in Congress work to protect our Kansas economy. Washington’s one-size-fits-all approach to regulation is costing jobs and hurting Kansas families. We saw this recently in the unwarranted listing of the Lesser Prairie Chicken—which is already having a devastating impact on oil production and jobs in our state. We must protect the rural way of life and the Kansas economy, and that is what I have been committed to, and will remain committed to during my time in Congress.”
