Russell Co. incident results in federal drug trafficking charges

WICHITA — A California woman is facing federal drug trafficking charges after an incident alleged to have occurred earlier this month in Russell County.

The office of U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom said in a news release Wednesday that Teresa Magna, 51, Spring Valley, Calif., has been charged with one count of distributing methamphetamine and one count of interstate travel in furtherance of drug trafficking.

The crime allegedly occurred Aug. 6 in Russell County.

If convicted, Magna faces five to 40 years in prison and a fine up to $5 million on the distribution charge, and a maximum penalty of five years and a fine up to $250,000 on the other count. The Drug Enforcement Administration investigated. Assistant U.S. Attorney David Lind is prosecuting.
