A 23-year-old Hays woman was arrested on suspicion of aggravated battery and possession of drug paraphernalia after allegedly stabbing a man Aug. 19.

According to Hays Police Department Chief Don Scheibler, officers on regular patrol were driving in the 500 block of East 16th at 1:22 a.m. when they observed a man waving them down for assistance.

Scheibler said the man told police he had just been attacked by female acquaintance with a knife.

Officers investigated the incident and arrested Jessica M. Barnes on the scene.

The victim suffered lacerations to his hand.
