Thomas More Prep-Marian

Thomas More Prep-Marian seventh-grader Sheena Zeng has qualified as a team member of the United States Chess Federation for the 2014 World Youth Championship in the Girls Under 10 division.

Zeng has the opportunity to compete as a member of an elite team of players and coaches who will represent the United States in Durban, South Africa. The tournament is from Sept. 15 to Oct. 1.

Zeng is ranked one of the top rated players in her age group in the United States.

“We at the United States Chess Federation are certainly proud of her accomplishment,” said Jerry Nash, USCF national education consultant.
