EMPORIA, Kan.- Four people were hospitalized after an accident just before 11 a.m. on Saturday in Lyon County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 1998 Freightliner semi driven by Gail Dean Windle, 54, Olpe, was northbound on Kansas 99 fives miles south of Emporia and making a left turn on County Road 100.
A northbound 2007 Chevy Trailblazer driven by Jessica Anne Preble, 26, Shawnee, was passing the semi and a 2014 Chevy Silverado driven by Devin Mitchell Arndt, 20, Emporia.
The Chevy collided with the semi, struck a concrete culvert, rolled several times and struck a utility pole.
Preble and a one-year-old child in the Trailblazer were transported to Newman Medical Center. Lifeflight transported another passenger in the Trailblazer Buddy D. Dunn, 51, Chetopa, to St. Francis Hospital and a seven-year-old child in the Trailblazer, to Via Christi in Wichita.
No other injuries were reported.
The KHP reported Preble, Dunn and the seven-year old were not wearing seat belts.
