COLBY — Midwest Energy and Clean Energy Collective will break ground on a new community solar array this week in Thomas County.

The event, which will be at 10 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Drive and Franklin in Colby, will mark the beginning of construction on the array. The community array panels are available to any of Midwest’s 50,000 electric customers and will be designed to produce up to 1.2 megawatts of locally produced clean energy in western Kansas.

Speakers from Midwest and Clean Energy Collective will be on hand to discuss the project, the first of its kind in Kansas.
