Lifelong WaKeeney resident Frieda E. Mohr passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2014, at Trego County-Lemke Memorial Hospital in WaKeeney. She was born September 26, 1929, in rural Trego County to John W. and Pauline (Rohn) Dietz.
On April 18, 1948, Frieda Dietz was united in marriage to Alvin Lee Mohr. They enjoyed 52 years of marriage together. Alvin passed away December 24, 2000. Frieda was a proud homemaker. She was known amongst friends and family for her wonderful fried chicken and tasty baked goods. She was also a talented seamstress and had a green thumb for gardening. She loved to play bingo, marbles and enjoyed a good hand of pinochle. She cherished time spent with family and friends.
Frieda will be missed by many friends and family, including three sons Tom (Karen) of Gulf Shore, Alabama, Richard (Dina) of WaKeeney, and Randy of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; two daughters Jan (De) Sultzer of Hays and Nancy (John) Farmer of Garden City; sixteen grandchildren Shelley Parker, Jody Parker, Justin Parker, Joe Sitzman, Destinee Sitzman, Jane Gaschler, David Mohr, Marcus Bazan, Amy Howard, Blake Mohr, Erik Sultzer, Ryan Sultzer, Dylan Sultzer, Dustin Farmer, and Brandon Farmer; nineteen great-grandchildren; a brother Delmer (Diana) Dietz of Ogallah; and a sister Wilmetta (Glenn) Gideon of Russell. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers Alvin and Ernest; a grandson Alex; and a daughter-in-law Linda Mohr.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of WaKeeney. Burial will be in the WaKeeney City Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
