CANTON, Kan.- A Kansas woman was injured in an accident on Thursday afternoon in McPherson County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 1997 Ford Thunderbird driven by Casey K. Jowers, 52, Canton, was eastbound on U.S. 56 and starting to pass a 2008 Nissan Titan driven by Jarod K. Littrell, 38, Canton, at the same time the Nissan was starting to pass a vehicle ahead.

The Ford took an evasive action, traveled into the north ditch, struck a field entrance, went airborne and continued on in the ditch until it came to rest after crossing 25th Avenue.

Jowers was transported to the hospital in McPherson. Littrell was not injured.

The KHP reported both drivers were properly restrained at the time of the accident.
