Stephen D. Angle, 63, Hays, is facing two counts of “probable cause of aggravated assault of a law enforcement official by a deadly weapon,” according to Ellis County Attorney Tom Drees.
The kind of weapon allegedly used has not been released.
According to Lt. Ron Rounkles of the Hays Police Department, the incident occurred overnight Monday after police responded to a 911 hang-up call at the 2700 block of Country Lane shortly before 12:30 a.m. Additional details were unavailable.
Drees said the court set Angle’s bond at $20,000.
Angle remained in the Ellis County jail in lieu of bond as of early Wednesday morning.
“Please keep in mind the arrest and/or charging of an individual is merely an allegation of criminal wrongdoing,” Drees said. “The defense maintains a presumption of innocence unless and until proved guilty by a court of law.”
