After weeks of consideration, the Ellis County Commission is expected to identify a road project to present to the Kansas Department of Transportation for financial assistance.

The county has identified 55th Street, 230th Avenue and Feedlot Road — all in an area of growth north of Interstate 70 — as routes that need upgraded because of increased traffic.

But when KDOT Secretary Mike King was in Hays earlier this year, he instructed the county to choose one project to submit for financial assistance.

At an earlier meeting,  commissioners suggested 55th Street between U.S. 183 and 230th avenue and 230th avenue from I-70 to an area about 1,000 feet north of 55th.

In other agenda items, commissioners will:

• Discuss leasing a phone and data system for the N.E.W. building from Nex-Tech.

• Discuss the construction contract with MW Builders on the courthouse and Law Enforcement Center project.

Monday’s meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. at the Ellis County Courthouse Commission meeting room. For a complete agenda, click HERE.
