LONDON (AP) – Eric Clapton says Cream singer-bassist Jack Bruce was “a great musician and composer, and a tremendous inspiration.”
Drummer Ginger Baker says he’s very sad to learn of the loss of a fine man.
Bruce died Saturday of liver disease at his home in Suffolk, England, at the age of 71.
Bruce wrote many of Cream’s hits, including “Sunshine of Your Love,” “White Room” and “I Feel Free.” Cream sold 35 million albums in just over two years.
Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi calls Bruce his favorite bass player and greatest influence.
