Fire extinguished at Kansas refinery

FIreATTICA, Kan. (AP) — Authorities in southern Kansas say a fire that broke out at a refinery has been extinguished.

KWCH-TV reports  flames were shooting out of the roof of the Mag-Plant in Harper County on Tuesday after the fire started in a cooling tower.

Emergency Manager Thomas Winter says the area was cleared in about a mile radius until the flames were put out. No injuries were reported.

It’s unclear what started the fire.

The plant is expected to re-open in a couple of days.
