Estella Pauline Brening, 84, LaCrosse, died October 30, 2014 at Rush County Memorial Hospital.

She was born January 13, 1930 in Ellis County, Kansas the daughter of Alex and Pauline (Graf) Munsch. On June 14, 1949 she married Dean Brening in LaCrosse. He died November 18, 1987.  She was a homemaker, a babysitter, and did cleaning at the Hadley Motel. She was a member of St Michael’s Catholic Church in LaCrosse. She enjoyed cooking, board games, hard work, and spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Survivors include a son, Phillip Brening and wife Charlotte of Ft. Worth, TX, a daughter, Nita Sellens of Topeka, KS, two sisters, Theresa Basgall and Fritzi Weigand, three grandsons, Matt Sellens, Mike Brening and wife Camille, and Nick Brening and wife Heather, four great grandchildren, Owen, Olivia, Saylor, and Cross Brening.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant son and daughter, and numerous brothers and sisters and half- brothers and half-sisters.

Funeral services will be at 12:00 noon on Saturday, November 1, 2014, at the Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1906 Pine.  Burial will be in the LaCrosse City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until service time on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to The American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home.
