On Monday and Tuesday, members of the Hays Optimist Club will be distributing dictionaries to all Ellis County sixth-grade students and teachers.

Gary Wentling, project chairman, said 375 Merriam Webster dictionaries will be distributed by club members.

This is the 30th years for the project, during which time more than 11,000 dictionaries have been given away.

The project is made possible via funds raised at the club’s annual Christmas tree sale in the Walmart parking lot. This year’s tree sale will begin Nov. 28.
