
SALINA- A Salina man was arrested on Tuesday morning after trying to pass a counterfeit $20 bill to purchase a bottle of water.
Police Captain Mike Sweeney said a clerk at the Family Dollar Store confronted Darrell Morgenstern on Tuesday morning.
Morgenstern took the bill back and left on a bicycle.
Police located him across the street near the McDonald’s.
Police obtained a search warrant and found the back of a $5 bill and three counterfeit $20 bills torn up in a trashcan in a bedroom of his home.
Morgenstern was arrested on requested charges of forgery and attempted theft.
