WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — The man accused of raping and setting a woman on fire faces revised charges now that she has died.
The Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office says 26-year-old Cornell McNeal will make a first appearance Wednesday on the amended charges.
Letitia “Tish” Davis died Saturday, a day after McNeal was formally charged with attempted capital murder, rape and arson related to the Nov. 14 attack. It is unclear whether he has a lawyer yet.
Relatives held a memorial for her on Sunday evening in Wichita’s Fairmount Park, where she was found with burns on more than half her body and cuts on her head.
