Fort Hays State’s Kate Lehman was named the MIAA Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week for the second time this season, announced Monday (Dec. 8) by the conference office.

Lehman had two double-doubles while helping FHSU knock off No. 21 Central Missouri (76-75 in OT) and Missouri Western (81-59). The senior finished the week with averages of 20.5 points and 11.5 rebounds per game, adding 11 total blocks to move into fifth all-time in NCAA Division II history, passing the 400 career blocks mark. Against UCM, Lehman had 19 points, 11 rebounds and eight blocks, just missing a triple-double. Lehman had her fifth 20-plus scoring effort of the season against MWSU, tallying 22 points to go with 12 rebounds. She shot 62.5 percent from the field for the week, hitting 15 of her 24 attempts.

The award is the 10th of its kind for Lehman in her career.  She was also named Athlete of the Week this season on Nov. 24.  The center is averaging 20.8 points, 10.8 rebounds and 4.0 blocks per game on the season.
