Kansas City, Mo. – Fort Hays State’s Kate Lehman has been named the MIAA Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week.
A triple-double highlighted Lehman’s week, as the senior averaged 21 points, 7.5 rebounds and 6.0 blocks in two games, helping the Tigers move their win streak to nine games. Against Kansas Wesleyan (W, 102-49), Lehman played just 19 minutes, scoring 31 points (her second 30-plus scoring effort of the season) with 10 rebounds and a career-high 11 blocks for her third career triple-double. In the game, Lehman moved to No. 4 on the NCAA Division II Career Blocks Record List (now has 425 in her career). Against Northwest Missouri State (W, 71-55), Lehman again reached double-digits, scoring 11 points to go with five rebounds. The 6-4 senior center is a native of Newton, Kan. where she competed at Newton High School.
