HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The boy critically burned in the Hutchinson apartment house fire on Christmas Eve has died.
Caiden Adams, 8, died Friday in the burn unit at Via Christi St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita.
He was one of eight residents in the apartment home in the 400 Block of West First Street.
Fire Chief Kim Forbes said that all eight residents were taken to the hospital. They were treated for smoke inhalation and released.
When Hutchinson firefighters arrived, the two-and-a-half story structure was fully engulfed in flames. The building is an old home converted into apartments.
Fire investigators determined that the cause of the fire was electrical. The building was a total loss.
