John Celock, an award-winning writer and media affairs adviser recently named state Rep. Travis Couture-Lovelady and Heath Kohl, Kansas Republican Party political director, as two of the most interesting people in Kansas Politics. Both graduated from Fort Hays State University with political science degrees.

Couture-Lovelady, R-Palco, ran unopposed for re-election in the 110th House District, which covers a large portion of Ellis, Norton, Phillips and Rooks counties. He also served as U.S. Rep. Tim Huelskamp’s campaign manager.

“(Couture-Lovelady) traveled the state, not only in the Big First, but also in helping field operations for the statewide ticket,” Celock said. “Sightings of him in communities from Dodge City to Pittsburg were not uncommon.”

Couture-Lovelady was recently elected as the Republican Caucus Chairman in the Statehouse.

Kohl, a native of Ellis, also received recognition for his statewide campaign efforts.

“(Kohl) traveled to all 125 state House districts and tens of thousands of miles across the state this year, working with local party organizations and boosting the field staff for the statewide ticket,” Celock said. “Kohl has been credited with helping the GOP achieve their sweeps in what had been touted as a tough year for Kansas Republicans.”

The Kansas Legislature convenes on Jan. 12. Celock’s full list can be seen HERE.
