Hays Police Department
Officers from the Hays Police Department will be focused on watching for impaired drivers from New Year’s Eve through Jan. 3. Celebrate responsibly, plan ahead for a sober driver, remember the Safe Ride, and safely ring in the New Year.
The HPD will conduct DUI saturation patrols in an effort to deter and decrease the number of impaired and intoxicated drivers on the street.
The purpose of the program is to saturate the city with roving police officers who continually monitor vehicular traffic for signs of impaired driving. Officers will place an emphasis on traffic and alcohol-related violations in addition to safety restraint enforcement.
The Hays Police Department has a zero tolerance policy on impaired driving. You are encouraged to call Safe Ride at (785) 621-2580 or have a designated driver to help you get home safely.
This event is being conducted in accordance with the Kansas Department of Transportation “I.D.D.P.” – Impaired Driving Deterrence Program.
“On behalf of the Hays Police Department, have a safe and Happy New Year,” the HPD said in a news release Tuesday.
