ATWOOD — One person was injured in an accident just before 1 p.m. on Friday in Rawlins County

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2012 Ford passenger vehicle driven by Cornelio B. Vanegas, 55, Dallas, Tenn., was facing eastbound in a field drive at Kansas 117 fourteen miles east and two miles north of Atwood.

The driver attempted to turn north onto the highway and pulled out in front of a Ford sanitation truck. The truck struck the passenger vehicle in the passenger side.

Vanegas was transported to Rawlins County Hospital. The truck driver,Jerold L. Holste, 55, Manhattan, and a passenger were not injured.

The KHP reported all were properly restrained at the time of the accident.
