The National Weather Service is calling for a winter storm to arrive overnight Friday, with up to 3 inches of snow accumulating in the region.

The winter weather advisory, in effect from midnight to 6 p.m. Saturday, includes Hays and much of central and southwest Kansas.

Among the threats from the storm system will be blowing and drifting snow, the NWS said.
