WAKEENEY- Two people were injured in an accident just before 6 p.m. on Saturday in Trego County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2002 Ford pickup driven by Sheristen James, 25, Springfield, Mo., was eastbound on Interstate 70 at WaKeeney.

The pickup stopped in the road due a jackknifed semi. An eastbound 2003 Chevy Tahoe driven by Christina Weigel, 38, Quinter, attempted to stop also. The driver lost control of the Chevy. It spun out and struck the pickup.

Weigel and James were transported to Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital.

The KHP reported both were properly restrained at the time of the accident.
