Kan. teen hospitalized after SUV travels into a creek bed

Screen Shot 2014-07-03 at 5.13.15 AMKINGMAN- A Kansas teen was injured in an accident just before 7 p.m. on Sunday in Kingman County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 1998 Ford Explorer driven by Emily Kaitlynn Helten, 18, Murdock, was eastbound on East Bluff Street and 90th Avenue nine miles east of Kingman.

The vehicle failed to stop for the intersection, went through a fence into a pasture and traveled into a dry creek bed.

Helten was transported to Kingman Community Hospital.
The KHP reported she was properly restrained at the time of the accident.
