Last second shot lifts Southwest Baptist over FHSU

Finn Delanay’s layup after catching a fullcourt pass at the top of the key with 1.8 seconds to play lifts Southwest Baptist to a 72-70 win over Fort Hays State in front of 2,110 Monday night at Gross Coliseum. FHSU falls to 8-5 overall and 2-3 in the MIAA. The Bearcats improve to 7-7 and 2-3 in conference play.

The Bearcats erased a couple of 10-point second half deficits with a 31-14 run to go up seven with just over five minutes to play. The Tigers answered with a 7-0 run to tie the game 65-65. FHSU had the ball with 20 seconds to play but a missed Royce Williams 3-pointer gave the ball back to SBU.

Craig Nicholson led the Tigers with 17 points and 11 assists. Achoki Moikobu added 16 points and Royce Williams 11. Drew Kite and Jeremy Wilson both score nine.
