Union contracts expected to be approved at county meeting

The Ellis County Commission is expected to approve new one-year contracts with courthouse, sheriff’s department, EMS and Public Works employees at Monday evening’s meeting.

The agreement includes a 2-percent raise, with employees paying an additional 2.5 percent of their health insurance premiums. Employees will now pay 7.5-percent of their health insurance.

County Administrator Greg Sund said, in his memo to the commission, agreeing to a one-year contract also allows the county to use the findings of the ongoing wage-and-benefit study during 2015 negotiations.

The commission will also vote on resolutions to increase elected and appointed officials pay by 2 percent for 2015.

Monday night’s meeting will be the first in the 718 Main Administrative Building.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. with an hour-long executive session courthouse. Click HERE for a complete agenda.
