Jane F. Gottschalk, 90, Hays, died Monday, January 5, 2015 at the Greeley County Long Term Care in Tribune, Kansas.
She was born May 3, 1924 in Hyacinth, Kansas the daughter of John C. and Barbara (Steinbach) Befort. On March 2, 1943 she married Adolph Gottschalk in Schoenchen. He died January 15, 2002.
She was a farm wife and also an interior designer, working for George Steele Interiors and later owning her own interior design store, Jane’s Designs. She was also a nursing assistant at Hadley Hospital, a life coach at St. John’s New Horizons, and did in home care in Hays and surrounding communities for sixteen years. She was a CNA and completed her CMA training when she was 80 years old. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, the Victoria Daughters of Isabella, and was a perpetual adorer for many years.
Survivors include five sons, James W. Gottschalk and wife Marsha of Ellsworth, KS, Robert D. Gottschalk of Westminster, CO, Timothy E. Gottschalk and wife Julie of Belleville, KS, Randall Gottschalk and wife Janet of Laveen, AZ, and Loren Gottschalk and wife Linda of Basehor, KS, four daughters, Gladys Herrman and husband Richard of Emporia, KS, Karen Larkin of Monett, MO, Michelle Sander of Tribune, KS, and Dee Ann Garrison and husband Jerry of Hays, a sister Bernice England of New Bedford, MA, twenty nine grandchildren, Mary (Joe) Jackson, Allen Herrman, Lori Herrman, Gail (David) Urban, Stephanie (Chuck) Stahl, Bradley (Lori) Gottschalk, Dustin (Jenny) Curnutt, Brian (Sharla) Gottschalk, Sandra (Norman) Muellenberg, Jill Gottschalk, Andrew (Felicia) Gottschalk, Abby (David) Harbour, Tammy Keele, Timothy Patterson, Kimberly Golubski, Angela (Tony) Reyes, Sheena (Manuel) Leon, Shaun Robertson, Sheryl (Anthony) Orsello, Sarah Waintroob, Kayla (Scott) Wiedeman, Sarah Gottschalk, Christopher (Kerry) Sander, Mark (Corinna) Sander, Kristin (Ryan) Mauch, Kyle Wiley, Branden Garrison, Erin Garrison-Markley, and Nathan Garrison, 48 great grandchildren and fourteen great great grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Adolph, seven brothers, Alex, Connie, Francis, Clarence, John, Jr., William, and Alois Befort, six sisters, Albina Pfeifer, Irene Wilson, Elizabeth Befort, Josephine Pfeifer, Agnes England, and Esther Stals, a son in law Jack Larkin, a grandson Troy Curnutt, a grandson in law, Rick Keele, and three great grandsons Matthew Urban, Aaron Markley, and Austin Brookhouser.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Friday, January 9, 2015 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 1805 Vine. Burial will be in the St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Schoenchen, KS. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 pm on Thursday and from 9:00 am until 9:45 on Friday, all at the Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1906 Pine St. A perpetual adorers rosary will be at 5:30 pm, a Victoria Daughters of Isabella rosary will be at 6:00, followed by a parish vigil service at 6:30, all on Thursday at the funeral home.
