Kan. man dies in Saline Co. officer-involved shooting UPDATE

ASSARIA – A Saline County man died in an officer involved shooting just before 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday in Assaria.

Saline County Sheriff Glen Kochanowski said Brock Nichols, 35, was shot after he pulled a weapon on deputies who were at the home in the 2300 Block of East K4 Highway to check on the welfare of a child in a custody dispute.

Nichols was transported to Salina Regional Medical Center where he died.

The case has been given to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation. The two Saline County deputies involved have been placed on administrative leave.

ASSARIA – Law enforcement officials in Saline County are investigating an officer involved shooting.

The incident occurred just before 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday near a residence on Kansas 4 in Assaria

One person was transported to the hospital.

Officials are expected to released additional details on Wednesday
