NICKERSON — Law enforcement authorities in Reno County are still looking for a suspect who refused to stop for deputies during a high-speed chase on Saturday.

The Reno County Sheriff’s Department reported the suspect was driving a red Ford Escort on Kansas 96 and Kansas 14 at Herren Road southeast of Nickerson when a deputy attempted to make a traffic stop.

The chase continued into Rice County where the suspect fled on foot near Avenue V and 24th Road.

The Kansas Highway Patrol helicopter and K-9 team were also unable to locate the suspect.

Sheriff Captain Darrian Campbell said officers did find a shoe they believe belonged to the suspect who was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.
