Hildagard Wasinger, age 100, of WaKeeney, passed away Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Trego Manor, WaKeeney. She was born March 11, 1914, on the family farm in St. Peter to Peter and Eva Marie (Katzendorn) Spies.
Hildagard graduated from Salina Sacred Heart. She was united in marriage to Leonard Wasinger on September 18, 1934 at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Collyer, and then later divorced. Hildagard spent most of her life working as a nurse’s aide at Trego County-Lemke Memorial Hospital.
She loved to read and paint pictures. Her love of travel took her to the Holy Lands, Mexico and The Shrines. At age 90 Hildagard learned to operate a computer so she could communicate with her two sons, friends and family. She will be deeply missed by many.
Survivors include two sons, Harold (Jill) Wasinger of Colorado Springs, and Garold (Jean) Wasinger of Sunrise Beach, MO; six grandchildren, Anthony (Martha), Douglas (Kellie), Todd (Grethchen), Carl (Nancy), Leonard John (Tracey) and Peter; fourteen great grandchildren; and a sister Barbara Loevenstein, Quinter. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two sisters, Sophia Brown, Mary Hecker and bother John Spies.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 16, 2015 at Christ the King Catholic Church, WaKeeney. Burial will be in the St. Michael Cemetery, Collyer.
There will be no public viewing or visitation.
