Late run lifts Lady Tigers to 14th straight win

The Fort Hays State Lady Tigers closed with a 9-2 run as they rally for a 60-52 win over Central Oklahoma Thursday night at Gross Coliseum. It’s the 14th straight win for the Lady Tigers which is tied for second longest in program history and improves their record to 15-1 overall and 8-0 in the MIAA. The Broncos see their five-game win streak snapped and fall to 13-4 and 6-2 in the conference.

The Lady Tigers used an early 12-0 run to build a double-figure lead and were 13 two different times in the first half before settling for a nine-point halftime lead. The Bronchos used a 17-4 second half run to go up 41-38 with 11:19 to play. A Chelsea Mason 3-pointer tied the game 41-41. Mason would hit another three to tie the game at 45-45. It would spark a 7-1 to five FHSU the lead for good.

The Tigers shoot just 34-percent from the floor and hit just 11-of-20 free throws. Kate Lehman battled foul trouble to lead the Tigers with 18 points, 12 rebounds and five blocks. Mason adds 15 on 3-of-7 three-point shooting. Keriann Shaw grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds.
