DICKINSON COUNTY -A Friday afternoon grass fire in rural Dickinson County burned an acre and a half according to District 1 Fire Chief Paul Froelich.

“The fire, in the 2200 Block of 2700 Avenue, started when a homeowner was attempting to burn a tree stump out,” said Froelich.  “We were fortunate the home had cement siding or it could have been much worse.”

Light winds today are expected to be much worse on Saturday and a District 1 has issued a burn ban that started Friday afternoon.  “We want people to pay attention to the high winds in the forecast,” said Froelich. “We do not need to be chasing a lot of fires this weekend.”
