MANHATTAN – A Kansas teen died in an accident just before 9 a.m. on Saturday in Riley County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2003 Chevy Silverado driven by Alexis D. Champ, 18, Wichita, was eastbound on Interstate 70 at Deep Creek Road.

The vehicle crossed the median and went into the ravine in the north drainage ditch.

Champ was pronounced dead at the scene and transported to Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home.

A passenger in the truck Darius T. Person, 21, Wayne, MI., was transported to Mercy Hospital.
The KHP reported both were properly restrained at the time of the accident.
