TALMAGE -Law enforcement officials are investigating a fire at an abandoned 2-story home in Talmage on Monday.

The Longford Rural Fire crew responded to the blaze near the intersection of Virginia and Buckeye Street just after 9 a.m.

The house was fully engulfed in flames when they arrived.

“We were able to prevent the fire from destroying a couple of adjacent buildings,” said Fire Chief Von Kramer. “There is some question on who or what started the fire and whether it was a legal burn or arson. We wasted over 2 hours on this fire.”

A fire damaged the residence two years ago. Fire crews were also called to a fire at the location three weeks ago.

“I don’t know if it was a legal burn,” said Kramer. “It is too close to other buildings for a controlled burn and the shingle were still on the roof.”  There were no injuries.

Dickinson County authorities are in charge of the investigation.
