Western Kansans appointed to state boards by Brownback

TOPEKA — Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback on Friday announced recent appointments to boards and commissions.

“I’d like to thank these men and women for sharing their time and talents with their fellow citizens of Kansas,” Brownback said.

Western Kansans among the most recent appointments are:

Kansas Water Authority

The Kansas Water Authority is responsible for advising the governor, legislature, and the director of the Water Office on water policy issues and for approving the Water Plan, federal contracts, administration regulations, and legislation proposed by the Water Office. There are 23 members on the Water Authority with the governor appointing 10. Members serve a four-year term.

• Greg Graff, Marienthal (Wichita County), is being reappointed to the Kansas Water Authority to serve a four-year term. He received his B.S. from Kansas State University. Graff is a farmer and current chairman of the Western Kansas Weather Modification Board of Directors.

State Board of Agriculture

The State Board of Agriculture reviews and makes recommendations on the Department of Agriculture’s legislative initiatives and proposed rules and regulations The governor appoints nine members to the board. No more than five members shall be from the same political party and each congressional district must be represented. All members serve a four-year term.

• Jerry McReynolds, Woodston (Rooks County), is being reappointed to the State Board of Agriculture to serve a four-year term. McReynlds earned his B.S. from Kansas State University. He has been an active member of various agricultural committees.
